The Sabertrip V3 tripmeter utilises GPS receivers to calculate distance and speed. This modern technology provides accurate positioning and distance measurement. Manufactured in South Africa and tested in severe off-road conditions, the Sabertrip Rally Tripmeter is built to withstand rough terrain. It features a robust aluminum casing with plastic fittings.  The device can be connected to standard wheel probes, serving as a backup in case of a loss of GPS signal, especially when passing through tunnels. The Sabertrip V3 comes as a complete unit, including the tripmeter, wiring loom, and a magnetic GPS aerial. This makes it a convenient and ready-to-use solution for rally competitors. In addition to distance and speed measurement, the Sabertrip V3 offers various other features, including a speedometer, stopwatch, time of day clock, and a fuel gauge (up to 500 liters). These functions make it useful for different purposes, including reconnaissance, route surveys, and road measurement. The device can simultaneously use two wheel probes or one gearbox probe as a backup to the GPS measurement, enhancing its reliability.

The Sabertrip V3 has an automatic GPS distance calibration feature, ensuring accurate measurements. It provides the option to display distance in either miles or kilometers, catering to different measurement preferences. An optional metal bracket is available for easy dash mounting, allowing users to position the device conveniently within the vehicle.

An additional accessory called the "Recce Harness" is available, which includes a cigarette lighter power source and a driver trip button for gearstick mount.
