Delivery, Returns, Terms and Conditions

Delivery Information:

Automax have partnered with several couriers to ensure the best service possible for the size of package you order.

Most packages are sent with DPD next working day service and in 99% of cases you will be sent a tracking number either via email, SMS or direct from the courier.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the size/weight of an item and the location of the parcel’s final destination, when your required items are placed into the shopping basket and you have entered your delivery information the cost of shipping will be calculated for you before purchase.

Orders must be received before 1pm to be eligible for next working day delivery in the areas this service is available. You will be notified if there are any issues with your shipment once we have received the order.

Tracking - If you have supplied us with a mobile number or email address, you will be notified by SMS or email of the hour delivery slot allocated to your parcel on the morning of its delivery day.

Stock availability - The items shown may not be in stock in one single location, due to the range of the items we supply, orders may be fulfilled from one of our supplier partner fulfilment centres. If you need something delivered in a hurry, please contact us when ordering. 

Shipping to Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland is generally 2-3 working days.

Next day delivery - while we use the most reliable method of delivery available in the UK, we cannot guarantee that a delivery will reach you the next day. We are yet to see a package go missing but severe weather conditions or issues with an address can occur and play a part in a delay. If items are not in stock you will be notified during our working hours.

Customs charges - all customs/tax/VAT/GST charges (Channel Islands, EU & Rest of World) are entirely the responsibility of the customer. Please contact your local customs office if you require further information.

Estimated delivery time - delivery times are an estimate and can vary if your item is out of stock. If this is the case you will be notified as soon as possible. All delivery times are an estimation and not a guarantee.

Restricted items - Liquids and pressurised items cannot be shipped outside of UK Mainland.

Returns Policy:

Thank you for shopping with Automax Motorsport. We aim for 100% satisfaction in every purchase, but understand sometimes things do go wrong during ordering. 

You have 14 days to instruct us you would like to return an item and it must then be returned within 14 days from that point. 

To be eligible for a return, your item(s) and all packaging must be unused and in new condition. All packaging must be undamaged. We retain the right to charge for re-packaging - our repacking fee is 20% of the purchase price. 

You must send any returns or exchanges back to us with copy proof of purchase and a covering note instructing us of your wishes ie exchange, refund etc.

Once an item has been received back to Automax, and inspected/tested as necessary, a refund will be issued to your original payment method. The time this takes does depend on your card issuer. 

We do not accept returns on any items which are special order. Made to order, and customised goods are strictly non-returnable. 

Buyers are responsible for return shipping and all shipping costs are non-refundable. If you are eligible for a refund you will be refunded less shipping costs.

Returns from the EU and anywhere outside of the United Kingdom will be subject to customs and Automax are not liable for any customs charges.

In the event that we make a change to or cancel an order, we may attempt to notify you by contacting the e-mail and/or billing address/phone number provided at the time the order was made. We reserve the right to limit or prohibit orders that, in our sole judgment, appear to be placed by dealers, resellers or distributors.

6.2 You agree to provide current, complete and accurate purchase and account information for all purchases made at our store. You agree to promptly update your account and other information, including your email address and credit card numbers and expiration dates, so that we can complete your transactions and contact you as needed.

The following terms and conditions apply to all transactions at Automax.

21 - Deliveries

21.1 Deliveries are normally made within 7 days from receipt of order for credit and or debit card transactions. A signature to confirm receipt of your order will be required. You will be advised of any delay due to an item being out of stock, or if any item is no longer available.

21.2 If you choose to pay for your goods by cheque or postal order all monies have to be cleared by the Automax bank before orders will be dispatched. In this case delivery time will be outside the 7 days as stated in article 21.1 of these terms.

21.3 All products are offered subject to availability and may be withdrawn if all stock is sold or if the manufacturers are unable to deliver. If your order cannot be fulfilled you will be given a full refund.

21.4 If delivery is delayed through default of Automax, Automax's liability shall be limited to a refund of the purchase price.

21.5 Alternative goods will not be substituted without your express permission.

21.6 Any damage to packaging must be reported to the delivery driver before accepting the shipment. Any shortfall in items delivered should be brought to the attention of the delivery driver, so it can be marked within the delivery notes. After this, it is impossible for a claim to be made if the goods have been received as "in good condition". 

21.7 Goods ordered with delivery outside the UK may be subject to customs duties and taxes (VAT) which is entirely the responsibility of the customer.

22 - Prices

22.1 All prices quoted are in pounds sterling (£) and exclude UK Value Added Tax (VAT) at 20% unless shown otherwise.

22.2 Prices may be subject to change due to manufacturers price alterations or change to the rate of Value Added Tax. In such cases you will be notified of any changes before your order is dispatched.

23 - Payment

23.1 Payment may be made by cheque, Visa, MasterCard, Switch or Solo debit cards, PayPal and Bank Transfer. Payment will be taken from your account before the dispatch of your order.

23.2 For peace of mind, the transmission of credit card details for all Automax on-line orders is carried via secure (encrypted) network connections.

23.3 We will take all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure. But in the absence of negligence on our part, we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party procures unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from Automax.

24 - Damage or Loss

24.1 In the unlikely event that your product is lost or damaged in transit please contact us in writing.

24.2 In the case of non-delivery, please wait 14 days from the date of your order, in case it has been delayed.

24.3 In the case of damage, please retain the products and contact us within 7 days of receipt.

25 - Contact

25.1 If you wish to contact us, with a query or complaint, please email us, or telephone us 01341 422803. Our line is manned during normal office hours, Monday to Friday. We aim to respond within one working day, and guarantee a response within three working days.

25.2 Nothing in this clause shall affect your statutory rights.

26 - Data Protection

26.1 The only information collected is that given at the time of ordering, and that is necessary to fulfil customers orders. This information is collected lawfully and in accordance with GDPR guidelines. This information is not passed on to third parties.

27 - Returns

27.1 Cancellation of Order - You have the right to cancel your order within 7 days of receipt and have a credit note for any cancelled items provided that you return the goods, including packaging to us in perfect condition. The goods to be returned must be unused, unopened and in their original packaging. We do not refund your original order postage cost, and the cost of return postage is payable by you. All returns must be sent as a recorded delivery and we cannot be held responsible for any losses incurred in transit back to us. See our returns policy here.

28 - Distance Selling Act

28.1 You have the right to cancel the contract relating to your order at any time up to the end of 7 working days after you receive the goods. To exercise your right of cancellation, you must give written notice to Automax by letter giving details of the goods ordered and date received. Notification by phone is not acceptable. If you exercise your right of cancellation after the goods have been delivered to you, you will be responsible for returning the goods to Automax at your own cost. Returned items must be packaged properly and shipped in a plain outer box. It is your responsibility to ensure returned goods are fully insured. All returned goods must be as new and complete including all original packaging. Automax cannot hold responsibility for goods that are damaged or lost whilst being returned. Automax will issue you a credit note within 30 days for any sum that has been paid by you or debited from your credit card for the goods, excluding postage. Automax may charge a restocking fee of of the Gross amount for all goods returned that are not required. If you do not return the goods as required, Automax may charge you a sum not exceeding the direct costs of recovering the goods. 28.2 Exceptions to Distance Selling Act. You do not have the right to cancel the contract under the Distance Selling Act if you have collected goods, if the goods were delivered outside the UK, or if the order is for personalised goods, goods specifically made to order or if you are not a consumer i.e. a company, partnership, sole trader or any other commercial body or registered charity.

FAQs

Q: Where is the best place to buy a helmet in North Wales?
A: Automax in Dolgellau, Mid Wales is supplier and stockist of many different types of helmet for rallying, racing, rallycross and karting.
Q: How do I know what HANS device fits me the best?
A: Our suppliers of FHR/HANS devices have their own fitment guides which are available on the product page of the relevant FHR you are looking for. Feel free to speak to our team more about this, or arrange an appointment to come and try one on in our Dolgellau shop.
Q: How do I pick between Simpson Hybrid and the more traditional HANS device?
A: Everyone is built different, and fortunately with our comprehensive range of FHRs there is bound to be one that fits you well.
Q: What FHR should I use for rallying?
A: For cars where you are sit "upright" ie saloon cars, tin tops and rally cars, you'll need a 20 degree HANS device for seating in that kind of position. In a formula or single seater car, you're sat a little more reclined, and therefore a 30 degree FHR is needed. At Automax, we sell both types. Contact us if you want more information. 
Q: If I buy a helmet and it doesn't fit, can I send it back for an exchange?
A: Yes, as long as it's within the returns period, you can return it and we'll send you the next size you require. 
Q: Where are your products made? 
A: Most of our racewear products are made in Europe. Stilo helmets are made in Italy. Stand 21 HANS devices are made in France. Many of our Simpson HANS products are imported from the USA. Our Turn One harnesses are made in the United Kingdom. Just contact us if you need to know anything else.
Q: How can I check what products are eligible for a certain series?
A: Normally a rally or racing event will publish a set of regulations which determine the equipment you are obliged to use/wear in a given event. This will be made up of information from the Motorsport UK Yearbook (bluebook) and sometimes FIA guidelines, too. We can offer guidance on necessary equipment for an event you're doing (please call or email us with your question), but as the competitor you are urged to check your own series regs to ensure you are equipped with the correct homologation in safety gear. 
Q: Are racing harnesses street legal?
A: It is best to refer to your road traffic laws in your country for information about road car seatbelt installs.
Q: Do you sell race suits?
A: Yes, we supply a number of different racing suit options, these are on our website, and if there's something specific you are looking for which isn't listed, do contact our team.
Q: What homologation are your racing suits?
A: Our racing overalls all (unless specified otherwise) adhere to the latest specification for racewear which is FIA 8856-2018. This new homologation has greater demands of safety and means it is designed to resist flames and heat transfer for longer. A very public demonstration of this new standard was Romain Grosjean's enormous fireball accident in an F1 car in Bahrain in 2020, where his 8856-2018 standard racesuit, underwear inevitably saved his life, along with the rapid response from the medics, of course. 
Q: Can you use a trackday helmet in a rally?
A: The standard for trackday helmets in the UK is currently very low, so a helmet sold as a "trackday helmet" is probably very cheap (less than £100 normally) and therefore definitely not eligible for rallying. In UK rally you must use a minimum FIA 8859-2015 standard helmet.
