  • Sensibly tuned variant of this sought-after Japanese car
  • 2.0L turbocharged 4 cylinder
  • 475hp through 4WD and 6 speed manual
  • Recaro seats, OZ wheels
  • Good service history
  • 63,679 miles shown on odometer
This Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR is a tastefully modified example of the lauded Japanese performance saloon.
Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four, now sending up to 475hp to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
First registered in March 1999, it was imported to the UK and re-registered with the DVLA in May 2008, and is now offered for sale from Dolgellau, Wales, with 63,679 miles shown on the odometer.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Over the Evo V, the VI featured a larger intercooler and oil cooler, improved pistons, and enlarged ducts in the front bumper to further aid cooling.
This example is finished in blue, over a black synthetic suede-trimmed interior with blue perforated fabric seat inserts on the racing-inspired Recaro front seats.
It rides on a set of refurbished 17-inch OZ Racing multi-spoke alloy wheels, housing red Brembo callipers, and shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres.
The factory specification includes manually adjustable Recaro sports seats, a Momo steering wheel, blue Ralliart instrument gauges, automatic climate control, and electric windows and mirrors.
An updated Alpine head unit and adjustable BC Racing coilovers have been installed.
The engine has been equipped with an Owen Developments turbo, and also features upgraded internals, as well as an uprated air filter, exhaust, and manifold.
Accompanying the vehicle will be a spare set of keys, a CD-based Alpine owner’s manual, and a collection of maintenance documents.
CONDITION
The paintwork is reported to be in good condition, with the seller noting that the bonnet appears to have been resprayed.
Touched-in stone chips can be seen on the driver’s door, along with light stone chips on the front end and wheel arches.
Inside, there is wear on the driver’s seat outer bolsters and the aftermarket head unit appears to be unseated, though the cabin otherwise appears to be in very good shape.
The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults.
The most recent MOT test was on 8 April 2023 at 63,679 miles, which was a clean pass with no advisories or defects.
SERVICE HISTORY
Its most recent service was undertaken at around 63,000 miles, where the engine oil and oil filter were changed, and the car was given a general check over.
The cambelt was replaced at around 50,000 miles.
The gearbox was replaced in May 2016 by Jap Performance Parts.
SUMMARY
This Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR is a modified example of the iconic Japanese performance car, with an upgraded turbocharged inline-four, which now produces up to 475hp. Benefiting from a recent service, it would now make an exciting companion for spirited B-road drives, though it could also be used on a day-to-day basis.
